How Gen Z Can Start Investing in Property
What 17-Year-Old Zoe Highlighted About the Future of Property Investing
When I was just 18, I bought my very first property for $88,000. At the time, it felt like a stretch — but it was possible. Fast forward to today, and that very same home is worth around $800,000.
It makes me pause and reflect: how are young Australians, especially Gen Z, meant to get a foot in the door of the property market today? With skyrocketing house prices, stagnant wages, and deposits that feel out of reach, the dream of owning a home in Australia can feel further away than ever.
And that’s why meeting Zoe touched my heart so deeply.
A New Generation, A New Path
Zoe is just 17 years old. Bright, bubbly, and full of vision for her future. But instead of waiting until “being settled in life”, Zoe is choosing a different path.
Through fractional investing in Bali, she’s stepping into property ownership at an entry point of just $65,000 — securing her piece of the ELLE Resort & Beach Club Bali.
It’s not just about the numbers. For Zoe, this investment is an opportunity to blend with her lifestyle. She lights up when she talks about taking her girlfriends on holidays together in Bali to the very resort she now partly owns. Imagine being a late teen and already saying, “I’m an owner here.” 🌴✨
Why Zoe’s Story Matters
What inspires me most is not just Zoe’s decision, but what it represents: a new generation rewriting the rules of wealth creation.
Instead of being locked out of Australia’s traditional property market, Zoe is embracing international property opportunities that are accessible, affordable, and full of potential. Fractional ownership means she doesn’t have to wait until she has a deposit to service a mortgage of hundreds of thousands dollars — she can start building her investment portfolio now, while her peers are still figuring out their next step.
And she’s not doing it alone. Her mum, Michelle, came along to the Perth Investor Night and encouraged Zoe to explore what’s possible. That support — women guiding women, mothers opening doors for daughters — is exactly what inspires me in this work.
Opening Doors for the Next Generation
When I see Zoe’s excitement, I can’t help but feel proud. Proud of her courage to step into property ownership so young. Proud of Michelle for bringing her daughter into the room. And proud of the community of women investors who are showing each other that there is more than one way to create financial independence.
For me, it’s a reminder that while the challenges of today’s property market are real, so too are the opportunities — especially when we think outside the box, embrace global markets like Bali, and lean on each other for support.
Zoe is proof that the next generation doesn’t have to wait. They can start now, with the right guidance, the right community, and the right opportunities.
Here’s to more Zoe's. More Michelle's. And more women choosing to step boldly into their financial futures. 💕
